Tristan frowned grimly when the apparent servant felt it necessary to comment on his patient's state. Whatever the issue between the Mr. Meijers, he wasn't going to let his patient be harassed while under his care. He opened his mouth to intervene, but Mr. Meijer was quicker.

He only felt angrier by the time he got to speak. "The fact that he's not invited. And you are ill-mannered," he reproached. He moved to the door, held it open. "I'm sure you have a lot to do."

Benny shrugged and slipped his hands into his pockets. "I am a very busy man. And I have better things to do than be conned by some filthy lump trying to get free care. See you around, doc." He gave a half hearted wave before stepping out of the offered door.

Menachem scowled as he stared down at nothing and clnched his fists. "Definitely seems like someone who'd work for my brother. I should have socked him in the face." He put his arm back over his face.

"Thank you for being decent, doc. I don't know anyone else who would. I know it's your job, but still..."

Tristan couldn't close the door quickly enough after the young man stepped out. "No problem, I'm sorry you had to deal with that," he said, still offended at the young man's insolence. "I believe your other brother's staff is decent." He sat back down. This was taking a big chunk out of his day...

The correct Meijer eventually showed up. His good hand rapped upon the door after he arrived. He hadn't seen Menachem in some time, so he wasn't sure what to expect as he stood there waiting to be received. Once he was let in by Douglas' man, he was escorted to where his brother and Tristan were, solemn faced as he nodded in greeting to his older kin and then Dr. Wells. "Well look at what the cat dragged in," he said in genuine surprise, his first instinct being the need to wrap the man up in his arms in a bear style hug but refraining from doing so because he knew how his family was.

The kid who came and got him was no longer in tow because Uriel had kindly given the coin over in return for the address.

"Good to hear. He's always been a bit .. " he didn't know what the word to use was. Softer? The guy could have been an ass when he was younger just like the rest of them.

His thoughts were interrupted when there was someone at the door who came in. He peaked and sighed in relief. At least they got the right one this time. "Yeah, believe me. I feel worse than I look. And I wouldn't have bothered you if I weren't so damned desperate. Please..." he finally said though could barely grumble out the words.

The door opened after a while and Tristan looked up. The greeting was less friendly than he had hoped for, though he saw no outright hostility in Mr. Meijer's face, and his injured brother did not seem offended. "Mr. Meijer," he said, eager to win the man over for his injured brother's plight. He held out his hand. "I hope your hand is all healed. Your brother is lucky to be alive, sir. He's going to need a wash and clean clothes before I treat the rest of his injuries."

"Almost. The stitches need to be pulled out, I think, as they itch like the devil." He then turned to his brother and said, "Are you alright, Menachem?" There was no need to be won over, as he was probably the one brother who gave a shit about all of his siblings despite the things they did to each other in their youth and even into their adulthood.

The older brother let them talk until he was addressed. He moved the arm back over his eyes as he had a headache and honestly wanted to pretend he wasn't being seen this way. The concern in Uriel's voice was welcome though, good little brother. "Like the doctor said.. I'm lucky to be alive. I hurt all over, I'm covered in shit... some of it may be literal. The doctor's taken good care of me, but he can only do so much in my state. I know it's a lot to ask. And I can't pay you back right now."

He was about to mention he'd been trying to make money on a farm, but pride and shame got to him. He was probably fired for disappearing, and even then, the miserable small amount of coins he'd made weren't going to be enough to pay the guy back. His face burned in humiliation and he was almost tempted to limp out and just die in a quiet corner like a dog thinking about it.

Tristan couldn't help but pity the injured man when he saw the look on his face before his brother. He turned to Uriel. "I can look at those stitches over at your place, Mr. Meijer, while your brother bathes."
