Elijah had not wanted to rush a reply and seem too eager even as he had read the letter several times over the next two days and had written letters and tossed them into the fire as they didn't meet an undiscovered standard.

I am glad to hear you had a good time. I had worried my company was lacking and you partook more than usual to get through the evening. I did have a lovely time and wish to meet again.
