James looked back. "It will be a very miserable end."

The guilt-tripping was working. But not enough. "Yeah, it sure will be." If she gives in to this kid's demands again, she's lost.

The boy looked sad, took a few steps, and then fainted - or pretended to faint.

Saoirse just cringed and leaned back a little, just. Looking at the kid, very uncertain as to what to do. She looked around.
......Was this a joke? It wasn't a very funny one, if it was.

A well-dressed elderly couple jumped when they saw the boy drop, and as they passed by, they looked at him with a tourist-y fascination. But they did not stop to help. James lay very still.

Saoirse took a moment away from her shock to scowl at the tourists. She turned back to James. "Okay, get up." This was a very unfunny joke.

James lay very still.

A fisherman approached. "Is he alright, ma'm?"

Saoirse frowned. "Yes, he's fine. Just thinks that acting like this is funny, or something." He was probably fine.

She turned back to James, and nudged him with her foot. "Okay, seriously, get up."

"Right," said the fisherman, and he walked off.

James did not respond.

"I'm gonna pick you up with my own two arms and throw you down a fucking cliff if you don't get up." This was extremely unfunny, now, and slightly concerning.
