Noah sat very quietly and subdued. Was Ben angry with him? He hadn't reported Ben, so what was his problem? Yet one such angry look was enough to make him tremble.

Anthony held back the urge to roll his eyes. "Well, I can't read," he said. Nevermind the fact that he was probably perfectly capable of reading but just didn't want to. "and that priest kind of deserved it."

Wesley looked away from them to go through some things and grab a morning cup of tea. "Then you should have asked what it specifically said. It would have been harder for me to make it up suddenly. And you chased him down. I can't imagine what a priest could have done to deserve that, unless you were reminded that you were hell bound."

This constable was a sick bastard. But Noah kept his mouth shut.

Hindsight is clear, as always. "If you would've explained it if I had asked then what was even the point of lying?" That was a stupid question. Anthony knew exactly what the point of it was.

"Oh I never said I wouldn't lie, it would just be harder and maybe you aren't such a fool, you'd have caught it. But you actually trusted me. "He laughed. "I am not on your side, and I thought that was clear. But you latched onto any hope to get out instead of just waiting for morning."

Anthony looked away. "Well, I've waited until morning now, and I'm still not out of here. So there was no point for me to not go and sign whatever that was."

Wesley waved his hand. "Not at all. I can let you go in a bit, but you still do need that apology for the priest that was promised. I just know you won't do anything illegal or else you are mine forever." He pulled out a piece of paper already with writing on it and held it out to him. "Sign it? Since you can't write at all.."

Perhaps in a different state of mind, Noah would have protested to Anthony being let go, but he was sulking on his bed, and didn't really listen to the conversation.

Anthony almost laughed. "Okay, give me a pen and I will." He was a bit too stupid to learn from his mistakes and realize that maybe he shouldn't go around signing random papers without reading them. He still trusted that Wesley won't lie, even though he had no reason to have faith in him.
