Niamh was the smaller of the two, and she looked quite a bit like Karen but with dark hair. Harold looked more like his father. They both had dark, curly hair, full heads too, and dark inquisitive eyes that turned to him in curiosity, both babies still laughing.

Gabriel reached out to Niamh, put his thumb gently on her forehead, and and made a cross, mumbling some words in Latin. Then he turned to Harold and did the same.

The babies both looked nonplussed at the touch to their foreheads. Harold flailed a little and stuck his little tongue out, making the raspberry sound. Niamh laughed and then did the same. "They don't seem shocked by ye, Father," she said.

Gabriel chuckled. "Did you expect they would be, Mrs. Calloway? Am I that intimidating?"

"Nay, they are social creatures, these two. I don't think ye're intimidating. Not like..." Not like Kemble.

He got the message, and secretly agreed. "May they stay that way." Gabriel said. He carefully picked up the baby girl, supporting her head with one hand. "Hey there, little one..." he said.

Niamh looked up at him with a toothless grin. She started to nom on her fist, perfectly content in his arms. She was definitely a far cry from the tiny little bloody bundle he had seen about six months prior.

Gabriel smiled warmly at the sight of the little girl making herself comfortable. "Hey, I say we switch jobs," he joked at Karen.

"Too bad ye couldn't be the Godfather," she said... "Ye did uh..." Well, she stopped there, not trying to make him blush or anything, knowing she'd traumatized the poor man by giving birth in front of him.

Good thing Gabriel was too occupied with doting over the infant to understand what she didn't say. "That would be difficult," he answered honestly. "It would require authorization of the bishop, and well..." he stopped himself there.
