Why was he talking to her like she was a child he was promising a treat? How disgusting. But also, was he going to pay for her drink, because in that case, she'd take the offer. The sweet stupor from the drink might make up for the overwhelming emptiness she felt when she wasn't lying under a man at night.

She offered him another coy smile. "That sounds fun, sweetheart," she said sweetly. "Will ye get t' mistress?"

She walked further in, looking around to see if she could spot Lory. Lory could put in a good word for her!

Well, he'd tried to lessen the rejection, but seems she was truly here for the job. That made it easier on him. He stood up tall and gave her a smile. "Sadly I must be watching the door, but I will ask someone to do it, since I don't think you're dangerous." He found a woman who he did know and spoke to her softly to ask to get Mrs. Meijer's attention. "I'm sure she'll escort you to the room when the woman's ready. She is busy, so you could perhaps sit and relax." He offered before starting back to stand by the entrance.

Ruth sat down at a small distance from Tony, but close enough to talk to him. "You might be wrong, Tony. I can be quite dangerous," she said in a teasing voice.

She wasn't lying though.

Menachem glanced in her direction. He considered between taking it as a warning, and if he did should he apologize or warn her to behave?

"If you want the job, you aren't." He said still keeping the welcoming tone. "And I think you're more than smart enough to realize that." Would she produce a rusty small pair of scissors from under her dress to stab him? Wouldn't be the first time.

Ruth sized him up, staying quiet for a moment as she assessed him. "Some men like dangerous women," she finally said.

There was a brief moment before he snapped his fingers. "Touche. But perhaps ease into it, not throwing it at the guy watching the door."

A grimace passed over her face as he told her off. "I'd call it practice. You need dispensables for that."

A smile passed Tony's face. "What if I didn't like it and put in a bad word for you? I am not going to. But I am trusted to watch the door."

"One of those guys?"

Ruth wanted the job. She had wanted many things in life. But when she felt an urge she needed to do the thing. She'd do the thinking later.

He tilted his head curiously. "What guys?"
